Abdul-Monim Abol Fottoh (b. October 15, 1951) is a doctor by training. He was a leading Brotherhood figure and secretary general of the Arab Doctors' Union. He is considered a reform-oriented member of the Muslim Brotherhood, and was a member of the group’s Shura Council between 1987 and 2009.
After the ouster of Mubarak, Abol Fottoh declared his candidacy for President, despite the group’s decision that they will not have a candidate in the first presidential elections after Mubarak. In response to Aboul Fottouh's defiance, the MB Shura Council's decided to expel him from the group.
