Essam El-Erian (b. April 28th, 1954, Imbaba, Giza) is the Vice President of the Freedom and Justice Party.

A doctor by training, he is a leading figure in the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. He occupied a number of leading positions in the Brotherhood, including responsibility for the Brotherhood’s Political Office between 2004 and 2009 and the group’s official media spokesman. He was also the youngest member of Egypt’s People’s Assembly when he won in 1987.
